Rick Fleury

Rick and Graham

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Rick Fleury is devoting his professional life to painting coastal landscapes of New England – leaving behind successful careers as a journalist and a New York executive officer and creative director in advertising and public relations.

His minimalistic style of landscape is widely associated with Cape Cod, and gaining growing recognition nationally. He is an Artist Member of the Copley Society of Art, CoISo, the oldest non-profit art association in the United States, founded in Boston in 1879. He was admitted to the Copley Society in January of 2007. His work has been selected for numerous juried and invitational exhibitions with Copley, resulting in major awards and a near-sellout solo exhibition in 2008.

He has been a year-round artist on Cape Cod since February of 1997. Fleury is a 1982 graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

His work has been featured in a 2006 solo exhibition at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. His work was also included in An Exhibition from the Permanent Collection at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, an exhibit – Twenty-five for Twenty-Five– celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Cahoon Museum of American Art, and in many invitational exhibitions including The Fine Arts Work Center, The Cotuit Center for the Arts, and The Harvard Club of Boston.

His work is in the permanent museum collections of the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum and the Cahoon Museum of American Art, and in corporate and private collections throughout the United States and Europe.

He has taught oil & landscape painting at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, and through the Copley Society of art.

He lives and works in Eastham, Massachusetts, with his collie, Graham.
